Claim
A digitally signed assertion an issuer makes about an identity, carried in a token and trusted because of the issuer's signature.
A claim is trusted without being re-verified by whoever receives it, because the issuer’s cryptographic signature vouches for it. This is what lets a token travel between systems that have never talked to each other directly.
